TOURNAMENT RECAPS
In case you missed out on the last few weeks of professional disc golf, let’s quickly get caught up.
May 12th - 14th: OTB OPEN
Emerson Kieth is no stranger to winning with 88 career wins, however, OTB was his first-ever Disc Golf Pro Tour win. Meanwhile, Paige Pierce claimed her second DGPT victory so far this season.

May 19th - 21st: Beaver State Fling
Eagle McMahon kept pace at the Beaver State Fling and won his first DGPT event of the season, while Jennifer Allen was able to do the same in the FPO field.

May 26th - 28th: Cascade Challenge
The Cascade Challenge, stop number two of back-to-back silver events on tour, showed us the Ricky Wysocki we’ve come to know. He claimed first place in the MPO division, winning by three strokes, his first Top-3 finish this year. Kat Mertsch in the FPO division finished in first place by the same margin, her second DGPT victory in 2023.

May 25th - 28th: PDGA US Masters DGC
While most of the pros were competing in Washington at the Cascade Challenge, some who met the age requirement of 40 opted to compete in the PDGA US Masters Disc Golf Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Philo Brathwaite and Ohn Scoggins claimed victory in their respective divisions

June 1st - 4th: Portland Open
The Portland Open was stop number seven in the DGPT Elite event lineup. On hole 18, Adam Hammes down by one stroke, made a circle two-putt for birdie forcing Aaron Gossage to sink his birdie putt to win. Aaron’s putt missed low resulting in a playoff between the two. On the first hole of the playoff, Adam was in the circle for his birdie put while Aaron was just outside. Aaron missed right-side chains and Adam was able to make his short putt for the win.

THE SEXTON STREAK ENDS
Since 2008, at 22 years old, Nate Sexton has made the cut (earned a payout) in every PDGA tournament he has competed in.
Nate’s streak spanned 264 consecutive events, over 5,557 days, across 7 countries, and totaled $207,974 in cash winnings.
That streak ended this past weekend where it began nearly 15 years ago, in his home state of Oregon. At the Portland Open, Nate finished his tournament tied for 62nd place with a score of two under par, 16 spots from the cutline of 45th place with a score of six under par.
“It hurts to lose something that I’ve worked so hard at for so long, in fact I shed a few private tears walking down the 18th today. Looking back, this streak is one of my proudest accomplishments as an athlete.”
The next closest current streak is Joel Freeman. Joel’s streak spans 54 events and totals $61,194 in cash.

ZOO TOWN OPEN PREVIEW
The Zoo Town Open kicks off today in Missoula, Montana at the Blue Ridge Disc Golf Course.

The ZTO is the fifth of nine DGPT Silver events scheduled in 2023. This is a new stop for the Disc Golf Pro Tour. A lot of pros are treating this as a bye week leading up to the Dynamic Disc Open. However, there will still be some notable pros in attendance:
MPO - Gannon Buhr, Anthony Barela, Adam Hammes, James Conrad, Kevin Jones, and Nikko Locastro
FPO - Kristin Tattar, Catrina Allen, Missy Gannon, Jessica Weese, Sarah Hokom, and Sai Ananda
👀 What we’re watching
Garrett Gurthie has yet to finish outside of the Top-15 in a DGPT Silver event so far this year. He is also the 2018 ZTO champion and will look to capitalize on the thin field competing this weekend.
Sai Ananda is coming off of back-to-back DGPT second-place finishes. She has momentum and is in hot pursuit of her second DGPT victory.
While Sai was taking in second place at the DGPT Elite+ Portland Open last weekend, Kristin Tattar was holding the trophy. Kristin has now won FIVE DGPT events in 2023. Her worst finish so far this year… 6th place at Jonesboro. Kristin is undoubtedly the best FPO disc golf in the world right now and is set up well to add another trophy to her collection this weekend.
