Improve your backhand form with the McBeth rule of timing. The rule is simple, plant your foot, then extend.

Extending before your foot lands will limit your extension and takes away from the “rubberband” effect. It causes you to lead with your shoulder and rely on it for power.

Having your plant foot land and brace before you reach full extension is a key aspect of timing your backhand.

Planting your foot before reaching full extension will engage the hips more and drive rotation from the bottom up. This will help improve:

Efficiency,
Distance, and
Reduce effort

Timing can have a serious impact on your game. Try filming yourself to see your form and how close, or far off your timing is compared to Paul’s.

TOURNAMENT RECAP

Paul McBeth has now won the tournament five times (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023), one less than his number of world championships.

Natalie Ryan won her first A-Tier of the year, and her first since the MVP Open last September.

It’s fitting that Paul McBeth won the tournament that is held at the property that he just purchased. Paul and Dylan Cease now co-own the Gran Canyon Disc Golf Course and plan to convert the property into a permanent course instead of the temporary one used for the tournament. This was only the second PDGA tournament that Natalie Ryan has competed in since the PDGA changed its division policy regarding gender. Her next tournament will be the Bowling Green Open on April 14th.

There is still no update on her filed suit against the PDGA and DGPT, but a response is scheduled to be filed by April 11th.
