BULLSEYE
Simon Lizotte, one of the best and most well-known players, announced on Saturday that he would leave Team Discmania after a decade with the team.
You can watch the full announcement he posted on his YouTube channel here. Discmania also made their own farewell video to Simon. However, theirs left you feeling like Simon may have passed away if you didn't know better. Considering Simon (now 30) had been with Discmania since he was 20 years old, the sentiment is fair.
To celebrate Simon one last time, Discmania dropped a new limited signature disc on Monday. These were made prior to Simon's decision to leave, but Discmania rightfully named the launch, "The Last Flight". The Doom Bird 4, Simon's Signature Series Horizon FD3 was released in the U.S. at 9 am and sold out almost immediately. Not a bad final flight for the Doom Bird.
Rumors have been buzzing for weeks now on if Simon would part ways with Discmania and, if so, where he would go. Now that his departure is confirmed, the disc golf world is waiting for an announcement on where he is headed.
The top two options at the moment appear to be Team MVP and Team Discraft. With Paul McBeth spending more time in Europe than usual in 2023, signing European-born player Simon could be another way to increase their European footprint. The main speculation for MVP comes from the video he posted about his final round throwing Discmania discs. The significance is he was playing on the course Maple Hill, home of the MVP Open for the last 5 years. However, Simon lives within a 30-min drive of the course, so...
Rumors were getting so wild that even MVP joined in on the trolling. Hinting NBA pro Steph Curry may get signed to the team.

Either way, all eyes are on Simon's social media accounts, anxiously awaiting what is likely one of the most significant sponsorship announcements in recent years.
