BULLSEYE

Lone Star Disc continues its signing frenzy, adding Robert Burridge to the team for 2023. Robert marks the 7th new addition to the tournament LSD team since November.

Robert was the 2021 PDGA U.S Amateur Disc Golf Champion, 2022 College Disc Golf National Champion, and the 2022 PDGA Rookie of the year. Other notable signings are Nikko Locastro, AJ Carey, Dean Carey, Leah Tsinajinnie, and Chandler Kramer.

Aside from signing higher-rated pros to their top team, Lone Star Disc opened its sponsorship doors to the masses. They posted an announcement on social media in September asking anyone that is interested in joining to apply. Answering the call, over 2,000 athletes applied to join Lonestar Ranger Team, and the team has around 600 members.

What benefits are there for rolling with the Ranger Team?

  • Four free discs

  • A t-shirt

  • A one-time 50% off discount on discs

  • An on-going 20% discount at the store

  • And, a few other minor perks

There are a few requirements to call yourself a Ranger.

  • Bag 90% or more Lone Star Discs

  • Rep Lone Star apparel

  • And, commit to promoting the Lone Star brand on social media and elsewhere

The Ranger Team sat around 120 members last year and will have 5x more members next year. Josh Hofstra, head of Marketing and Business Development for Lone Star Disc, clarified that the team is as much for the members as for Lone Star.

Though the Ranger Team isn't a full-fledged marketing ploy by Lone Star, 600 mid-level athletes throwing 90% Lone Star Discs can't hurt sales.

RULE OF THE DAY

A. A player must choose the stance that results in the least movement of any obstacle that is a permanent or integral part of the course. Once a stance has been taken, the player may not move an obstacle in order to make room for a throwing motion. It is legal for a player's throwing motion to cause incidental movement of an obstacle.

🧠 Answer: Nate Sexton. He has cashed out in his last 113 Elite Series and Major event appearances.
