OPENING DAY FOR EUROPEAN DISC GOLF

The European Pro Tour kicks off today with the Copenhagen Open. Held at Valbyparken, it will be the first of seven EPT events in 2023 leading up to the All-Stars event in October.

The European Pro Tour is separate from the PDGA Euro Tour which is governed by PDGA Europe and has twelve events of its own. Its first tournament will be Pro Forester held in Croatia starting June 9th.

Jonesboro Open this past weekend was Paul McBeth’s last DGPT event for a few months. He’s headed off to Europe for the next two months as he’s lined up to compete in the EPT Estonian Open before moving on to six straight Euro Tour events. After which he’ll play in the second PDGA Major of the year, the European Open in late July.

CIRCLE’S EDGE

  • Brodie Smith had high hopes for this season but has yet to really show what he is capable of. Through eight events so far this year, he only has one Top 10 finish and two other Top 30 finishes.

  • Linus Carlsson has not played a tournament in the U.S. since the DGPT Championship in October of last year. While a lot of his European peers have been competing on tour since the start of the season, Linus has been delayed due to not having a sports visa. He just acquired his visa which is good until 2028, and is looking to make his 2023 debut at the OTB open on May 12th.

RULE OF THE DAY

A. The position of a thrown disc on the in-bounds playing surface marks the lie.

B. Alternatively, the player may mark the lie by placing a mini marker disc on the playing surface, touching the front of the thrown disc on the line of play. A mini marker disc is a small disc, not used in play, that complies with PDGA Technical Standards for mini marker discs.
