COLLEGE DISC GOLF NATIONALS
The College Disc Golf National Championships concluded this past weekend. The event took place at North Cove Leisure Club. The same venue for the DGPT event, the Blue Ridge Championship.
The tournament featured both men's and women's singles and team championships for Division I to Division III colleges.
Past College Disc Golf National Champions can go on to have successful professional careers. The most recent example is Robert Burridge. He was the 2022 DI Individual Champion and is currently ranked #56 on the DGPT.

BLUE RIDGE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Blue Ridge Championship is the second Silver Series event of the 2023 season for the DGPT and will be the final tournament before the first Major of the year, the PDGA Champions Cup.
The tournament is held at North Cove in Marion, NC at two of the three courses on the property. The MPO will be competing at The Gorge, while the FPO will be playing at The Boulders. This is a brand new event for the DGPT Silver Series. North Cove was previously a golf course but was converted into a disc golf sanctuary and opened to the public in 2021. With lots of elevation, technical holes, river crossings, and mountain views, North Cove seems to have it all.
Free round one live coverage of the FPO division is already underway on the DGPT YouTube channel. Live coverage for MPO will start at 3:00 pm EDT. Live coverage for rounds two and three will be available exclusively on the Disc Golf Network.
Next-day coverage of FPO and MPO feature cards will be available on Central Coast Disc Golf.
👀 What we’re watching
As is the norm so far this year, keep an eye on Calvin Heimburg. He continued his dominating performance last weekend with another podium finish at the Music City Open. Also, he’s 1 for 1 at DGPT Silver Series after winning the Innova Open just three weeks ago.
Ricky Wysocki had his first promising event of the year last weekend in Nashville. He finished 8th in the tournament. It was a welcome sight after missing multiple tournaments due to injury and a DNF at The Open at Austin.
Kristin Tattar has yet to place outside the top five in a tournament this year. This includes a second place at the Silver Series - Innova Open.
A potential sleeper this weekend is Holyn Handley. She has been in the hunt at most of the tournaments so far this year. She has placed top five in all but one DGPT event in 2023.
