ALL-STAR WEEKEND
We are three days away from the unofficial start of the 2023 disc golf season. On Friday, we will see the return of All-Star Weekend, an exhibition event where the best players in the world can show off their skills.
For a full breakdown of the 2023 All-Star Weekend, see it all here.
The event follows a modified Ryder Cup format, splitting the divisions into two teams of six players. Each team will compete in a series of competitions throughout the weekend, attempting to win points in each competition. The team with the most points at the end will be crowned the All-Star Champions.
Skills Competition - Friday, 2/17
Doubles Competition - Saturday, 2/18
Singles Competition - Sunday 2/19
The All-Star teams were drafted this past Friday evening. You can watch the MPO draft here, and the FPO draft here on the DGPT YouTube channel.
Live coverage of the event will be available on the Disc Golf Network.

GANNON BUHR LEAVES PRODIGY
In a startling move yesterday, Gannon Buhr announced on his Instagram that he is leaving Prodigy after six years with the team. The announcement is unexpected considering Prodigy announced Gannon as part of their 2023 tour team and there are less than two weeks until the start of the 2023 Disc Golf Pro Tour.
“I believe that change is the best way that you can grow and improve in any aspect of your life. I feel that I’m in a point in my career where right now is the correct time for me to make that change.”
In six years with Prodigy, Gannon has won two PDGA Junior World Championships (2017 and 2019), the 2022 United States Disc Golf Championship, and has podium finishes at the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship and other Elite Series events.
He has been a member of the PDGA since age 10, the same year he won his first sanctioned tournament. His win at the 2022 U.S. DGC put his name in the record book as the youngest player (17) to ever win the tournament and the second youngest ever to win a Major.
There is no news yet on his new sponsorship and which discs he’ll be bagging for the 2023 season.

Norwegian Anniken Steen signed a 5-year contract with Guru and PCS. The two-time Norwegian Champion and 2022 EuroTour Champion is looking to extend her winning frenzy into 2023.
Fredy Meza is joining Lone Star Disc for the 2023 season. He is registered to compete in the Innova Open for his first DGPT event of the year.

RULE OF THE DAY
B. When the disc is released, the player must have at least one supporting point within the teeing area, and all supporting points must be within the teeing area. A supporting point is any part of the player's body that is, at the time of release, in contact with the playing surface or any other object that provides support. The player is allowed to have a supporting point outside the teeing area before or after, but not at, the moment the disc is released.
🧠 Answer: Paul Ulibari. He has beaten 5,980 different players.
